Nestled in the heart of the historic market town of Epworth.
Step inside for a simply charming and welcoming experience.

Mentioned in the Doomsday book the Red Lion has kept many of its original features and has a charming period interior that complements its character as a traditional English country Inn.

A warm and friendly welcome awaits you at the Red Lion Coaching Inn.
The Red Lion is situated in the historic small town of Epworth, in the Isle of Axholme. Epworth lies on the A161 road, roughly half way between Goole and Gainsborough. A warm welcome awaits customers new and old to drink, dine, stay and celebrate!
Epworth offers visitors an indulgent selection of delightfully quaint shops and annual local festivals including ‘The Festival of the Plough’ and ‘The Epworth Show’. Its narrow picturesque streets are rural and diverse and the local community are friendly and accommodating.
It also attracts many visitors each year as the birthplace of Charles and John Wesley and its history steeped in Methodism. The Red Lion is the place John Wesley often stayed on his own visits to the town later in his life. In our ‘Tartan Room’ hangs a portrait depicting John Wesley which was plucked from the fire in ‘The Rectory’ in February 1709.
